Algiers Levee Bike/Hike Path
The Algiers Development District held three public meetings in late 2010 and early 2011 to discuss and gather public input on the proposed Algiers Levee Bike-Hike Path. Public input was very favorable with 99.9 % feeling this project is a positive addition for Algiers and the entire New Orleans area.
The path will run 5.6 miles from the Algiers-Canal Street Ferry to the Chalmette Ferry and be completed in two phases. The first phase would be from the Canal-Algiers Ferry landing to the Federal City and phase two will be the completion of the rest of the 5.6 path to the Chalmette Frerry landing.
Planned amenities include neighborhood access ramps, benches, light fixtures, drinking fountains , trash receptacles and doggie waste bag stations. Funding for this entire project will be provided by the Algiers Development District.
